How the plans line up

  • Business plans, up to 300 seats. Business Basic has the web and mobile apps, email, Teams and 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Business Standard adds the desktop apps. Business Premium adds Intune, Defender for Business, Entra ID P1 with Conditional Access and Purview information protection.
  • Enterprise plans, any size. They have no 300-seat cap, and smaller organizations can choose them too. Office 365 E1 is web and mobile apps with email and Teams, Office 365 E3 adds the desktop apps and larger mailboxes, Microsoft 365 E3 adds Intune, Entra ID P1 and Windows Enterprise, and Microsoft 365 E5 adds the advanced security, compliance and Power BI Pro. Microsoft 365 E7 is E5 with Microsoft 365 Copilot, Agent 365 and the Entra Suite.
  • Apps only. Microsoft 365 Apps for business and for enterprise have the desktop apps and OneDrive without a Microsoft mailbox or Teams, for organizations whose email lives elsewhere.
  • Frontline workers. Microsoft 365 F3 covers people on shared or mobile devices with email, the web and mobile apps and device management, for much less than a full plan.
  • With or without Teams. The suites are also sold without Teams, at a lower price, for organizations that use another meeting and chat tool.

Questions people ask

Can I mix plans in one organization?

Yes. Licenses are assigned person by person, so you can give Business Premium to the people who need managed devices and Business Standard or Basic to the rest. Business plans stop at 300 seats in total across all of them.

Is Business Premium the same as Microsoft 365 E3?

Close, not the same. Both add Intune and Entra ID P1 to the apps, email and Teams. Microsoft 365 E3 has larger mailboxes, Windows Enterprise and no seat limit; Business Premium has Defender for Business and costs less.

Is Copilot cheaper bought with a Business plan?

Yes. Microsoft sells Business Standard with Copilot for $23.50 and Business Premium with Copilot for $32 per user a month, against $35 and $43 for the plan plus Copilot Business. So with Copilot, Business Standard with Copilot also costs less than Business Basic plus Copilot Business ($28), and the chooser recommends it.

When is Microsoft 365 E7 worth it?

When you want E5 security, Microsoft 365 Copilot for everyone and Agent 365 to manage agents. E7 is $99 per user a month. E5 and Copilot bought separately come to $90, and adding Agent 365 ($15) makes $105. So without agents, E5 and Copilot cost less; with them, E7 does, and it also includes the Entra Suite.

Do the prices include Teams?

Yes, unless you answer that you do not use Teams; then the chooser prices the same plan sold without Teams. Microsoft 365 E7 is the one exception: its no-Teams price is not in the tool yet, so it is still priced with Teams, and the result says so.

Are these the prices I will pay?

They are Microsoft's US list prices, as of October 31, 2026, for an annual subscription paid yearly. Microsoft prices monthly billing on an annual subscription 5% higher than paying yearly, and the new prices apply to both. Partners and Enterprise Agreements can price differently.
